Dr. Roopak Vasishtha – CEO & Director General

Dr. Roopak Vasishtha, a renowned HR veteran, currently holds the prestigious position of the CEO & Director General of Apparel Made-ups & Home Furnishing Sector Sill Council, Government of India. With an illustrious career, spanning over 35 years, Roopak has held numerous enriching leadership roles within Human Resource, Legal and Skilling domains spread across diverse industries like Automobiles, Textiles, Healthcare and Education Industry.

Roopak has a proven track record of managing the entire gamut of HR and IR functions, which include evolving and implementing best-in-class HR processes and policies; conceptualizing robust employee centric plans which foster learning and growth, thereby ensuring long-term engagement; creating synergetic relationships within the organization; launching strategic HR and IR interventions and leading multi-location teams.

Roopak started his career with the Human Resource vertical at Escorts Ltd. in the Yamaha Motorcycle Division. He played an instrumental role in singlehandedly building a 3000 people strong work force of highly talented engineers and technical hands, which was then rigorously trained on the industry best practices and Japanese style of working.

His next stint with the prestigious Apparel Export Promotion Council, which is the Apex body of exporters of Apparels in India, like CII and FICCI, played an extremely pivotal role in his career. In this multifaceted role, he headed the Human Resource function, along with serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer of the organization, which employed more than 3000 experts of International Trade in more than 30 locations across India and abroad. Alongside handling the HR function, he also spearheaded the establishment and growth of AEPC's educational wing, the Apparel Training and Design Center across 25 states which are designed to impart training in Apparel Trade to more than 50000 students every year. During this stint, Roopak got the opportunity to gain hands on experience on critical POSH cases, the rulings of which proved to be so powerful and instrumental in prompting the Government to make suitable amends in the prevailing POSH laws of the country.

Roopak further diversified his experience by entering the Healthcare industry and getting associated with Dr. Lal Path Labs, India's leading Diagnostic chain. His long and fruitful association with LPL, where he served as the Vice President-HR, along with handling the charge of two strategic verticals - Education and Legal, further cemented his foothold in the industry as a strategic HR leader who specializes in developing strategy for building people capability to drive business success.

With his current role, Roopak has yet again ventured out into an untapped territory in his career – the Skilling sector. He has been entrusted with the critical responsibility of fulfilling the mandate of Skill India Mission of the Government of India in the Apparel Sector. With his rich and diverse experience, Roopak is continuing to make remarkable contribution and a humongous impact directly at the grass root level, by imparting quality training and skilling to thousands of Indians and helping them earn sustainable livelihood options.

On the educational front, Roopak holds a Doctorate degree in Human Resources. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Institute of Marketing and Management, New Delhi and has completed his graduation from University of Delhi.

On the personal front, Roopak is married to Shulu, who is a home maker. They are blessed with two children – a daughter Sarah, who is also an HR professional with a leading Media house and a son Rohan, who is a marketing professional with a Steel giant.

Roopak is a passionate musician who loves to sing and play Tabla. He is also an approved Announcer with the All India Radio and has delivered voice overs for numerous films and documentaries aired on National Geographic Channel and Films Division of India. Roopak is an avid writer and regularly pens down articles for leading national newspapers and HR/IR magazines.

A righteous leader and a conscientious soul, Dr. Roopak Vasishtha strongly believes in leading a principled life while maintaining the highest standards of integrity. He operates with a mindset to embrace obstacles and challenges, head on, and is truly a force to reckon with.

Ms. Smritee Dwivedi, Director - Operations

Ms. Smritee Dwivedi is Director – Operations, Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC).

Has rich experience of 22 years, in varied capacities across Industry Chamber, Corporate Training, Biotech Advisory, Education,Pharmaceutical and Skilling Sectors. Have strong leadership skills along with skills for Liaison and Coordination with Government & PSU's, Embassies in India and Africa and International Organizations, Corporate Affairs, Policy Advocacy, Public Affairs, Project Management, Project Implementation, Corporate Strategy, Marketing and Brand Building, Crisis Management, Training, Product Launches, Promotional Campaigns, Media Management, Event Management, Corporate and Government Communications, Writing and Editing. She is the writer and editor of four volumes on Chemical Industrial Disaster Management which are valued in chemical industry and by disaster management authorities. As a leader of a USAID funded project, has travelled to South Africa.

Has the distinction of being First Class First in Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and being a distinction holder throughout her educational life.

Being an avid book reader and writer, adds to her passion for writing on any subject.

Ashish Srivastava, Additional Director - Operations

AshishSrivastava is Additional Director - Operations with Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC).

He has a rich experience of 17 years in the field of Sales and Operations in Banking & Financial services and Education Sector. He has been instrumental in setting up and streamlining the processes related to Sales, Marketing & Operations. Currently, he is looking after the Operations domain concerned with assessments and certification in Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Industry. Prior to joining AMHSSC, he was taking care of Business Development and Operations for Vocational Education and Training of CL Educate Ltd.

He is a Commerce graduate and Masters in Management Studies from Mumbai University.

Interests – Loves to travel different places and keeping pets.

Ms. Nidhi Trehan, Additional Director - Quality & Standards

Nidhi Trehan is working as Additional Director - Quality & Standards with Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) . She has a rich and varied experience of 14 years in Apparel and Home Furnishing Industry in its exports and retail division and also in the Education Sector besides five years of experience in Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council. She has taught in Apparel Training and Design Centre, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Institute of Marketing & Management and has been participating as a Jury at various programs of National Institute of Fashion Technology . She is a Graduate in Home Science from Delhi University and MBA from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Apart from this, she is also trained in Textiles and Garments Exports from National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Her diverse and strong experience has been instrumental in understanding and designing industry oriented curriculum for various job roles. Her domain in AMHSSC is identifying the skill gaps, conceptualizing, designing courses and curriculum, setting the standards, managing, putting in place an assessment and certification mechanisms of vocational and other training certification programs like for schools, colleges and various other government and non - government schemes, to create robust and vibrant eco-system for quality education & skill development in Apparel and Home Furnishing space in the industry. She has written articles for AMHSSC's supplements and newspapers and is also heading the team for conducting the competitions at various levels for World Skills Competition as a part of NSDC's initiative.

Her hobbies are painting, reading , writing and listening to music.

Mr. Atul Madan, Additional Director - Operations & Trainings

Mr. Atul Madan is Additional Director - Operations & Training at Apparel Made- Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC). He has a total experience of 18 years. Prior to joining AMHSSC, he had worked with BGR Energy Systems Ltd and Petronet LNG Ltd. He joined AMHSSC in August 2014.

He has a strong background of HR, Training & Development and administrative responsibilities. Apart from this, he is a trained SAP HR Professional.

His experience has helped him develop strong interpersonal and written communication skills, which in turn enabled him to relate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. His analytical and organizational ability, taught him to work with a team as well as manage to achieve group goals, deliver under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

Er. Arpit Kumar, Joint Director - IT

Arpit Kumar is working as Joint Director - IT, in Apparel Made-ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council. He is enriched with ground level experience of more than 15 years in different dimensions of IT industry.

In his words, IT continues to revolutionize the quality of life and modernize economy of the world. The advanced computing facilities have been made possible by the shear hard work and intelligence of top scientists, researchers and computer architects around the world. Moreover, one should not forget the contributions of academicians, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates to enable them become world leaders in computer sciences.

After working in IT industry for one year, he stepped into academics and research as he was not interested in doing routine software job. He taught mostly subjects like internetworking with TCP/IP, and Digital Data Communications. After teaching, he could not resist himself to go for higher studies, and completed his M.Tech. (IT), with distinction, and PG in Cyber Laws. He is also honored to work as Treasurer for Computer Society of India, Gurgaon Chapter.

He has also published more than 8 Research Papers in National & International journals and presented more than 12 Research Papers in National & International Conferences.

On the social front, he is an active participant in designing bridges to connect different cultural communities to come together to work for betterment of human civilization.

Further, on artistic front he is a painter of human emotions through words. He has always followed the statement "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic".

Mr. Deepak Awasthi, Joint Director - Finance

Mr. Deepak Awasthi, working as Joint Director (Finance), in Apparel Made-ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council. He has a total experience of 19 years in Finance & Accounts in different sectors like Infrastructure, Aviation, Restaurants& Skilling.

In AMHSSC, he is head of Finance and handling all the financial matters like budgeting, taxation, internal audit, preparation of Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheets, Utilization Certificates, etc.

Before joining AMHSSC, he had worked with Aero Trek India Inc., New Delhi, dealing in Aviation and Restaurant business and had looked after financial matters like budgeting, taxation, internal audit, preparation of Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheets, etc.

Earlier, he was associated with AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines, New Delhi, leading Aviation Sector Company from Ukraine. He handled the entire finance and accounts of the Delhi branch office single handedly.

Prior to that, he worked with P.D. Agrawal Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Indore in its Construction Work Division. He started his career with Sablok Enterprises, Sagar (M.P.) as Assistant Accountant and worked there for almost 5 years.

He is a Post Graduate in Commerce (Financial Accounting) and MBA-Finance & Accounts from Annamalai University.

He loves to participate in the sports like cricket, football, badminton, etc. and likes to watch sports events.

Ms. Sandhya Makkar, Joint Director - Business Development & CSR

An Epoch-er and Enthusiast worked with many export houses, buying houses & retail houses. A Diploma holder in Fashion Designing from International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT).Done Advance Marketing & Merchandising from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). A Post Graduate in Human Resource from All India Institute of Management Association (AIIMA)

Ingressed in areas of Sourcing, Production Planning/Control/Execution, Product development, Merchandising, Category Management, Buying.

Ms. Esha Ranganathan, Deputy Director – Operations& Training

Ms. Esha Ranganathan is serving as a Deputy Director – Operations & Training in Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC). She has more than 3 years of professional experience. Prior to joining AMHSSC, she has worked with Kotak Mahindra Bank, New Delhi as Manager, and has dealt with Banking Financial services, Project & Corporate Finance, Private Equity & Investment Banking.

She was also associated with CSC e-Governance India, New Delhi and was instrumental in setting up and streamlining of the approval processes / protocols related to Training Partners (TPs) in PMGDISHA project, a Government of India initiative.

Besides her Post Graduation in Commerce, she has also earned Master of Business Administration specialized in Finance from Symbiosis International University (SCMHRD), Pune. She has also acquired her Diploma in Direct Taxation Law (DTL), Government Diploma in Cooperation & Accounting Board (GDCA) & ICWA Intermediate.

She actively participated in social activities during her college days and earned prestigious awards and accolades.

Esha Ranganathan is a multifaceted personality having interests in travelling, music, reading and theatre. An art lover, she has a remarkable aesthetic sense and appreciates works of art related to period history and culture.

Ms. Priya Mathur - Deputy Director - Quality & Standards

Ms. Priya Mathur is working as Deputy Director - Quality & Standards with Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC). She has a rich and varied experience of 10 years in Textile i&Apparel Industry in exports and retail divisions. She is a Graduate fromLucknow University and MBA from EIILM.

She has worked with SHAHI Exports Pvt. Ltd for 10 years in HR and Skill Development Department. She had also been Master Trainer- Soft Skill for Women Empowerment in the Industry for 6years.

She has a diverse andstrong experience inoperation of different type of machines used in garment industry for various job roles. Her domain in AMHSSC is identifying the Skill Gaps,Conceptualizing, designing courses and curriculum, setting the standards, managing, putting in place assessment and certification mechanism of vocational and other training certification programs to create robust and vibrant eco-system for quality education & skill development in Apparel and Home Furnishing space in the industry.

A pro-active and enthusiastic team player, an innovative thinker, a relationship builder, and a highly effective communicator, constantly striving to maximize productivity and efficiency, Priyaneet has a rich experience of more than 8 years of working in various capacities and different roles in the Apparel, Hospitality, Media& Entertainment sector. A Post Graduate in Apparel Merchandising Management;alongwith her strong people skills, she has handled major projects of diverse natures in these sectors. Together, with her innate desire for helping people and her proficiency as an Internationally Certified Image Consultant, she has been able to transform the Images of many high ranked Corporates and Individuals. A passionate long distance runner, she is well known for her discipline and commitment towards the sport. Has won several accolades in Half Marathon events, in her age category.

Dr. Aditi Yadav - Deputy Director-Operations and Training

Dr. Aditi Yadav is Deputy Director-Operations and Training in Apparel, Madeups& Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council.

She has an experience of more than 7 years in field of Medicine and Management. She has done BDS and post-graduation in health and hospital management. She has exemplary management skills along with people skill. Has made great contribution in field of operations, insurance, business development, claims processing and fraud control having worked with various organizations like SGT University, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Reliance General Insurance, All India Technical and Management Council, ReligareHealth Insurance. She has closely been associated with assignments concerning skill ecosystem. She has a very dynamic personality having her interest in painting, dancing, playing basketball and traveling.

Mr. C S Sridhar, Deputy Director – Operations

Sridhar works as Dy. Director – Tirupur and is responsible for the major parts of Southern India.

He is B.Sc (Physics) from PSG College, Coimbatore & Certificate course in Knitwear Technology from AEPC-SITRA Knitwear Service Centre, Tirupur

Enriched with a vast experience of 33+years in various fields.

Worked with Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), Apparel Training & Design Centre (ADTC), KEAS Control Systems India Pvt Ltd as Assistant General Manager-Administration and with Systel Energy Solutions India Pvt Ltd as General Manager-Operations.

A veteran in Apparel sector especially in skilling activities in the sector, Sridhar believes in absolute perfection in whatever we do.

Ms. T. Kavitha, Deputy Director, Operations

Ms.T.Kavitha – Deputy Director, Operations, Apparel Made Ups & Home Furnishings Sector Skill Council.She has more than 8 Yrs of experience in the field of Marketing and Product Development.

Before Joining AMHSSC, she was associated with TexbondNonwovens (Manufacturer and Exporter of PP Spun bond nonwoven fabrics and Made Ups) as senior sales coordinator where shehandled client relationship, business development,production planning and execution for on time deliveriesfor both domestic and international buyers.

Prior to this sheworked as consultant with DakshinChitra(a Heritage Museum which has more than 1000 collections in antique south India Textiles) where she was involved in Research and Conservation of hand woven antique Textiles of South India.

She started her career with Coats India ( MNC dealing with sewing accessories like threads, zips and interlining - head quartered in the UK) as Technical services Advisor where sheIndependently handled the Merchant, Purchase and quality team of Garment Manufacturer/ Buyer/ Retailers in Chennai region, and also gave technical training for sales team , conducted shop floor studies to increase productivity.

She is Engineering graduate in Textile from A.C College of Technology, Guindy Campus, Anna University, Chennai.

Mr. Vipul Wahal – Head – CoE – Delhi

A trained fashion design professional with over 17 years of Industry experience while working with international and domestic brands. Experienced in design and product development, project management, range planning, buying, merchandising, Vendor management.

Vipul is heading the AMHSSC Center of Excellence (CoE) - Delhi. Center of Excellence, an initiative of Apparel Made-Ups and Home furnishing Sector Skill Council are being established at various locations across India to meet this specific need of the industry. These Centersare involved in Research work in the Apparel Manufacturing Technology/ Processes and bring to the industry more productive managerial and supervisory resources, which, in turn, enhance the industry productivity.

Mr. K.S. Shankararaagavan - Head - CoE- Tirupur

K.S. Shankararaagavan is The Head of the CoE- Tirupur for Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC). He possesses a sound academic background ranging from a Diploma in Textile Processing and M. Tech Textile Technology to MBA Human Resources.

He has a commendable eight years of working experience totally in the field of textile technology. He mastered the managerial skills with his job as an Assistant Factory Manager at KM Knitwear, Tirupur which obviously adds on to his leadership qualities. Later, he pursued his teaching career at ATDC for four years following which he involved himself actively in research in the field of textile technology. Also, he has published numerous research papers and given seminars in various colleges and universities.

Apart from that, he worked as a project engineer in IIGM Pvt Ltd for a short time. Hence, with his diverse experiences and expertise in administrative, teaching and research fields, he is able to offer his holistic performance as a head of the CoE for Apparel Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC).
