The Apparel, Made-Ups, and Home Furnishings Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) aims to enhance skill development in the textile sector through the following initiatives:
- Skill Repository Development: Establishing a comprehensive database for technical skills relevant to the Apparel, Made-Ups, and Home Furnishings value chain.
- Standards & Accreditation: Developing standardized evaluation criteria and accreditation systems to ensure high-quality skill training.
- Inclusive Skill Development: Providing training opportunities for men, women, and individuals with disabilities, with direct industry input.
- Training of Trainers (ToT): Creating specialized programs for trainers in both content and pedagogy to improve skill training.
- Quality Assurance: Implementing a standardized, outcome-based accreditation process that ensures quality and adds business value.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhancing the training value chain, including curriculum design, training content, trainers, certification, and industry endorsement.
- Partnerships & Excellence Centres: Collaborating with training providers to establish centres of excellence and innovation using standardized training methodologies.
- Technology Integration: Leveraging modern technology for skill training and assessment.
- Labour Market Information System (LMIS): Developing a structured database to assist in skill development planning and training delivery.
- Resource Support Agencies: Promoting academies of excellence to support industry-specific training needs.
The AMHSSC organizational structure includes industry members from knitwear, apparel, hosiery, fashion design, made-ups/home furnishings, associations, academia, and domestic apparel industries, along with representatives from NSDC and the Ministry of Textiles (MoT).
